Scott McTominay produced another impressive performance as Manchester United sealed a 3-1 victory over Premier League-leaders Arsenal on Sunday.
The much-maligned Scottish midfielder has been superb for the Red Devils of late.
In fact, he’s been so good that he’s keeping £70 million signing and multiple Champions League winner Casemiro out of United’s starting line-up.
McTominay was one of three players who received a yellow card against the Gunners at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Referee Paul Tierney had no choice but to book the Scotland international when his poor first touch threatened to allow Gabriel Jesus to burst away.
McTominay knew he needed to stop Jesus and dragged the Brazilian to the ground with a WWE-style body-slam.
One of the most obvious yellow cards you’ll ever see.
No wonder his teammates have started calling him ‘McTerminator’.
Man Utd won the game thanks to goals from debutant Antony and a brace from Marcus Rashford.
United took the lead in the 35th minute through Antony, the £86 million signing who joined the Red Devils from Ajax on transfer deadline day.
Old Trafford erupted as the lively Brazilian tucked Rashford’s pass into the bottom corner past Aaron Ramsdale.
Cristiano Ronaldostood and applauded his new teammate from the bench.
Arsenal started the second half strongly, prompting Ten Hag to send on Ronaldo in place of Antony, who received a standing ovation from the home supporters.
However, the Gunners were back on level terms moments after Ronaldo’s introduction thanks to Bukayo Saka, who found the net from close range.
Arsenal continued to pile on the pressure but United re-took the lead shortly afterwards through Rashford, who produced a composed finish in front of the Stretford End after latching on to Bruno Fernandes’ exquisite pass.
Rashford went on to net his second of the game, and United’s third, on a perfect afternoon for the Old Trafford faithful.
The result means Man Utd climb to fifth, with 12 points from six games, after making it four wins on the bounce.
