Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has stuck to his word regarding Marcus Rashford, according to insider Dean Jones.

The United boss said that he wanted to make the England international a key part of his plans at Old Trafford and Rashford has responded to those claims by working his way into Ten Hag’s starting XI.

What’s the latest news involving Rashford?

Rashford endured the worst season of his career in 2021-2022, scoring just four times in the top-flight and lost his place in the England squad as a result.

But since Ten Hag arrived at the club, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a return to form and is already just one Premier League goal behind his tally from the whole of last term.

And Rashford has been turning up in the big games, netting in the wins over both Liverpool and Arsenal to help United get up and running.

Unfortunately, a recent injury saw him miss out on earning an England recall for the Nations League games but continuing at his current rate for the next month or so will surely make him difficult to ignore for Gareth Southgate ahead of Qatar 2022.

And Jones has praised Ten Hag for getting Rashford back to some sort of form following a difficult 12 months post Euro 2020.

What did Jones say about Rashford?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “When Ten Hag took the job, he told Rashford that he would make him integral to the team and he would help rebuild him as a player and he’s been true to his word, and I think that Rashford has appreciated that.”

How has Rashford performed this season?

According to WhoScored, only Antony and Anthony Martial have outperformed Rashford, but the duo have started just once between them, which suggests Rashford might have been United’s best player from the regular starters.

In just six Premier League appearances, the winger has scored more goals (3) and provided more assists (2) than any of his Red Devils teammates.

Meanwhile, the £200,000 per-week star is in the top two players for most shots (2.5) and dribbles (1.3) every game, while he’s also averaging one tackle every appearance.

If Rashford keeps playing like he has done in the early weeks of the season, he could become an important player for both club and country over the next eight months.
