Manchester United received a major transfer boost last week when it came to be known that their prime target Jadon Sancho will be allowed to leave Signal Iduna Park in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told ARD, “We already had a gentlemen’s agreement with Jadon last year that he can switch under certain conditions. He has been with us for a couple of years. However, this agreement does not exist with Erling.”

These comments show that Dortmund doesn’t want to lose both of their most prized assets in one transfer window. The German club is also aware that they might be forced to sell Sancho due to the negative financial consequences of Covid-19. The matchday revenues of the clubs worldwide have been seriously impacted as fans are banned from the stadiums. Any sum derived from Jadon Sancho’s potential sale will give a huge relief to the club’s finances.

The 21-year old winger was linked with a move to the theatre of dreams last summer. However, the Red Devils were not ready to pay Dortmund’s exorbitant transfer fee. In the same interview, Michael Zorc was quizzed on United’s failed pursuit of Sancho. To this, he replied, “In the end, the requirements were not met.”

How can he fit in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans?

United now have a golden chance to bring in a serious young talent who can really make an impact in the first team. Solskjaer has missed a quality right-winger since he has been at the helm. Daniel James was one of his first signings but he has failed to meet the expectations. The Wales international possesses a breakneck pace but he still seems to be a player who has a lot to learn especially when it comes to delivering in the final third. Thus, the Norwegian has been forced to use Mason Greenwood on the right flank. Even though Greenwood has done well in that position, he is not a natural winger. He sees himself as a number nine who can lead the line.

Jadon Sancho is still a young man, but he has played at the highest level for both club and country. The England international is having another stunning season. He already has 12 goals and 18 assists to his name. Manchester United are also having a very successful campaign. They are favourites to win the Europa League final against Villareal and are more or less nailed on to finish in the second spot in the table.

The arrival of this right-winger will boost their squad and aid them to mount a serious title challenge in the Premier League. A team with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford will be the most creative powerhouse across Europe.
