Manchester United are reportedly set to undertake a thorough review of their season next week before making a final decision on whether or not to keep Erik ten Hag.

This comes after Ten Hag masterminded a superb 2-1 win against Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

First-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were enough to secure the trophy for United and end what has been a truly disappointing campaign on a relatively high note.

This term, Ten Hag and his players have been subjected to intense criticism due to their inconsistent results and performances.

Understandably, there has been speculation around the Dutchman’s role at Old Trafford and whether he’s the right man to lead the club into the new era under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.

A report covered by The Peoples Person on Monday relayed that the power brokers at United already made their decision and Ten Hag would be sacked soon after the FA Cup final.

Even more concerning from Ten Hag’s perspective is that the club continues to be strongly linked to his potential replacements including Kieran McKenna, Thomas Tuchel, Roberto De Zerbi, Graham Potter, Gareth Southgate and others.

After his side’s triumph at Wembley, Ten Hag was repeatedly asked about his future at United. He insisted that he wants to stay and see through the project he embarked on when he joined from Ajax although he admitted it’s not up to him whether he remains in situ.

He also said that if INEOS don’t want him, he’ll go somewhere else and continue to win trophies.

Ratcliffe was asked by a journalist about Ten Hag’s fate but he snubbed the question and simply walked away.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein and Laurie Whitwell, no final decision has been made regarding the 54-year-old coach but things will become clearer after an upcoming audit of the campaign.

“Manchester United will conduct a season review next week — including the performance of manager Erik ten Hag — before deciding on next steps for the football club.”

“United have already begun contacting other candidates, including Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, as they explore possible replacements for Ten Hag but have always insisted no final decision has yet been made on the Dutchman’s future.”

“The club’s hierarchy, led by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS sporting director Sir Dave Brailsford, now intend to objectively assess all aspects of what Ten Hag said at Wembley has been a “rubbish” campaign.”

The next few days are certainly shaping up to be crucial for the club.
