Gordon is held in the highest of regards at Pride Park, with the newly-appointed manager and former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney being mighty impressed with the youngster.

“I brought Kaide up with the first-team initially to train with us for a week to see how he reacted to it, and he was one of the best trainers. I kept him with us for a couple of weeks and he’s been training at the same level if not to a better level to a lot of the other [first-team] players.”

Now both Manchester United and Liverpool have taken a liking to the versatile youngster, who could be available for a seven-figure sum in the January transfer window.

We have been strengthening our youth squad quite heavily in the past few months. And adding someone like Gordon, who has already impressed club legend Rooney, would be another step in the right direction. However, the competition from Liverpool will make things tricky.
