The midfielder went to London and revived his career, having been directly involved in 12 goals since his loan move – more than any other Premier League player during that period.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is delighted to see Lingard doing so well because he deserved the opportunity to spread his wings and show the English top-flight how good he truly is.
“Jesse has been brilliant since he left,” Solskjaer told the press, as per Manchester Evening News. “We could have kept him, he has always got a part to play. Man United through and through, never caused me a problem.
“He deserved a chance to play more football, that is why we left him go to West Ham.
“We would welcome him back, we hope he will go to the Euros. I hope he has strong finish to the league.
“It was different here. Bruno’s form in the same position. Delighted though for Jesse.”
But this does not mean United should take him back in the summer. Lingard has found his level, and how many teams do you see sitting back against West Ham? None and it’s completely different to playing for United.
Lingard’s performances should make him a hot prospect in the upcoming summer transfer window. It’s a great opportunity for United to get some business done, as revealed in the latest Strettycast.
