Paul Pogba seeking gigantic payday to commit future to Manchester United

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United star Paul Pogba is seeking a mammoth £500,000 per week in order to commit his future to the club.

The 28-year-old has a little over a year left on his current deal and is yet to pen fresh terms. His agent Mino Raiola has now informed the Red Devils that they will need to part with a small fortune to keep hold of the world cup winner.

If United meets his demands, Pogba will become the highest earner in the club’s history. It should also easily make him the highest-paid player in the league.

Raiola’s demands are, however, not limited to United. Any other interested party will need to fork out the same amount in order to land the dominating Frenchman. (h/t Daily Star)

The continental trio of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have all been informed of the player’s demands as we head into the summer transfer window.

The amount only represents the basic wage Pogba will be earning. The midfielder could earn as much as £800,000 per week if image rights are also factored into the equation.

The Midas Touch?

The Frenchman is aware that he is in his prime and the next contract is his best shot at landing a golden payday. It would not be amiss to claim that his recent form has hinted at him returning to his best.

Pogba’s demands come in the wake of financial turmoil that has not spared Europe’s top clubs. According to the report, of all the parties interested, only PSG seem to be in a position to afford him.

Add to it the transfer fee United will demand this summer, the Frenchman will be a sizeable investment regardless of where he ends up. Of course, it is entirely possible that he could walk away on a free in a years time.

Giving in to Raiola’s demands would be a slippery slope for United. Not only would it be a sizeable financial investment but will throw our wage structure into disarray.

The likes of Bruno Fernandes are due for a new contract and it would be unfair given the Portuguese ace’s contribution to see him earn lesser than Pogba. It is a Pandora’s Box that is best left closed.
