Manchester United are reportedly still in contact with Barcelona over the possibility of signing winger Ousmane Dembele.

Dembele, 23, joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 in a transfer which cost the Catalonian giants an eye-watering £117m, as per Transfermarkt.

Since his arrival in Spain, Dembele has featured in 83 matches in all competitions and has been directly involved in 39 goals.

Despite being hotly tipped to become one of the world’s most prolific attackers, Dembele’s career has been halted after a series of injuries have stunted his development.

Barcelona’s French World Cup winner had been heavily linked with a sensational move to United after leading journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed talks were ongoing during the summer.

Despite United’s seemingly audacious approach for Dembele, a proposed move, of any kind, failed to materialise.

However, the saga looks to be far from over after Mundo Deportivo journalist Miguel Rico (via Sports Witness) reported that the two clubs were still in contact over a possible January transfer.

Rico reports that Barcelona are aware of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s long-standing admiration for Dembele and the Norweigan is ‘still looking’ to land him at some point during the future.

Mundo Deportivo’s Rico also goes onto claim that the player himself wishes to remain at Barcelona and has ‘no intention’ of leaving the Nou Camp.
