“Our job is always to try and keep it locked down at the back because we have a lot of firepower up front.”

Youngster Mason Greenwood put us ahead in the first half. It was the English international’s first-ever goal in the competition.

A late flurry of goals however was a testament to our dominance over Julian Nagelsmann’s side.

Marcus Rashford came off the bench and scored a hat-trick in just 27 minutes. It was the fastest hat-trick in the competition’s history.

The third member of our frontline, Anthony Martial rounded off the win with a well-taken penalty in the 87th minute. Greenwood, Rashford, and Martial formed a formidable trio towards the end of last season. It was once again on show at Old Trafford yesterday.

Rashford the hero!

Lindelof was effusive in praise for Rashford and his contributions on the night. He is happy for his teammate and believes Rashford changed the tone of the game.

“He changed the game completely and the things he did with the ball and the chances he created… he’s a fantastic player and I’m very happy for him.”

With our frontline performing, the defence will need to step up and do their job. Lindelof accepts that and admits that as long as things are tight at the back, the frontline always gives us a chance of winning the game.
