Manchester United have finally listened to fans because according to recent reports, the club have shelved plans to sign Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic.

That’s according to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, who claims the Red Devils have ‘pulled out’ of the race to sign the former Stoke City and West Ham forward.

Although fans hold nothing personal against the former Hammer, he is 33 years old and no longer has a reputation as a top striker, so a move to Old Trafford now makes virtually no sense at all.

Clearly worried about the backlash from fans, as well as other high-profile industry workers, such as super-agent Rob Segal, who thinks the potential deal ‘stank of desperation’, United’s hierarchy have stopped their pursuit dead in its tracks.

Who the 20-time league winners may turn their attention to now remains unknown, however, with just three weeks left in the summer window, one thing is for sure, if Erik ten Hag is going to bring in at least one new attacker, the club must act quickly.
