Manchester United salvaged a late draw in their final summer friendly against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

Scorers: Pellistri 90+3′; Williams 29′

Erik ten Hag fielded a much-changed starting XI for the encounter at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium after his strongest line-up had faced Lens on Saturday.

A cagey first half was finally broken by Nico Williams putting Athletic ahead by slipping the ball past Tom Heaton shortly before the half-hour mark.

Los Leones were reduced to 10 men midway through the second half as Aitor Paredes was sent off for obstructing Hannibal Mejbri.

But the Reds Devils still struggled to break down their LaLiga counterparts until the last kick of the game, when Facundo Pellistri struck from Harry Maguire’s knockdown header.

United will kick off their new Premier League campaign at home to Wolves on 14 August.
