Manchester United have reportedly rejected a six-month loan offer from Inter Milan for midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Van de Beek, 23, joined United during last summer’s transfer window in a deal worth £39.9m, as per Sky Sports.

However, despite being widely regarded as one of Europe’s most gifted midfielders, van de Beek has struggled for first-team playing time at Old Trafford.

Since his arrival in Manchester six-months ago, the 23-year-old Dutchman has only been named in two of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Premier League starting line-ups.

According to a recent report from FCInterNews, Serie A title contenders Inter Milan have recently approached the Red Devils’ hierarchy looking to take van de Beek on a short-term loan.

It is believed that van de Beek is concerned over his lack of playing-time as he seeks to be named in Holland’s Euros squad.

However, the Italian outlet claim that despite Antonio Conte’s desire to bring in van de Beek in place of out-of-favour midfielder Christian Eriksen, United have rejected their approach.

The report does not state exactly why United have rejected Inter Milan’s offer, presumably because Solskjaer still sees van de Beek as an integral part of his squad.

However, surely the time is coming now where fans must be wondering why on the earth the club splashed out nearly £40m on a player who rarely features.
