Untied will however have to face off against arch-rivals Liverpool for Romero’s signature. According to the report, the Red Devils are leading the chase for the Argentine star. It would now appear they are ready to make their move.

It is no secret that United are in the market for a new centre-back this defender. While Romero is not the only player on our radar, he is one of the more economical ones. He represents a cheaper option than the likes of Jules Kounde, Ben White and Raphael Varane.

Liverpool have already signed Ibrahima Konate and will have the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomes and Joel Matip all set to return from injury. So whether they choose to go head to head against us for Romero remains to be seen.

At 23, Romero has the best years ahead of him. He is slowly yet steadily establishing himself as a dominant defender. He recently scored his first goal for Argentina in the 2-2 draw against Colombia last week.
