With things starting to get ugly between FC Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele, Manchester United could help put an end to matters as they are ready to sign him in the ongoing transfer window, reports SPORT (h/t Fichajes).

Dembele refused Barça’s latest contract offer, prompting the club to issue an ultimatum for him to secure a transfer to a new club before the end of the month. The 24-year-old took to social media to clarify that he remains committed to the team and will not give in to ‘blackmail’.

With the situation threatening to spiral, Manchester United have emerged as a potential solution to the issue, as the Red Devils are prepared to sign up the winger before the end of the month.

The Red Devils have been following Dembele’s situation for a while now and even tried to sign him in the past. They were prepared to wait till the summer to sign the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner on a free transfer, but are now willing to speed up the process as they are looking to rescue their faltering campaign.

However, the Premier League giants will sign the ex-Borussia Dortmund sensation only on one condition that Barcelona let him leave for free despite him still having six months on his contract. United, as per the report, are unwilling to pay any transfer fee for the winger.

While it might not be the most ideal deal for Barça, it could be one that makes sense as they will be able to get his wages off the books and get rid of an unhappy player from the dressing room.

At the same time, it could also appeal to Dembele himself as he would avoid the situation of spending the next six months in the stands, especially in a World Cup year. It will be interesting to see how this story develops in the coming days.
