Manchester United played out a dull goalless draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League today.
Erik ten Hag made four changes, with Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho coming into the team.
Both teams looked reluctant to attack before the break. The game did not pick up in the second half.
Bruno Fernandes came closest to scoring out of the two teams, but the crossbar denied him.
Referee Robert Jones was prompt in showing yellow cards to United players, with five of them booked.
Man United remain in the 14th spot with merely eight points after seven games.
Let’s get into the player ratings.
Andre Onana – 6/10
A fine save to deny Youri Tielemans when the Villians opted to play a short corner.
Noussair Mazraoui – 6/10
A robust display before getting substituted at the break.
Harry Maguire – 6/10
Maguire was harshly booked in the first half by the referee. He suffered an injury just before half-time.
Jonny Evans – 7/10
The veteran was solid at the back in the first half-hour to stop a couple of Aston Villa attacks.
Diogo Dalot – 6/10
A match-saving block in injury time.
Kobbie Mainoo – 5/10
The midfielder got booked for a clean tackle – another victim of poor officiating. A hardworking performance from the youngster but provided little creativity.
Christian Eriksen – 5/10
A quiet display by his standards and lacked creativity.
Bruno Fernandes – 5/10
Fernandes could have done better with his decision-making with the ball. He rattled the crossbar with a free-kick.
Alejandro Garnacho – 5/10
A good shot in the first half, but the angle was too acute.
Marcus Rashford – 6/10
A brilliant play to pinch the ball from Matty Cash and followed up with a powerful shot at Emiliano Martinez. Rashford took another fiery shot, but the goalkeeper deflected it for a corner.
After getting a yellow card, the manager had to remove him because he feared another sending-off.
Rasmus Hojlund – 4/10
The striker failed to make an impact in his first start of the season.
Matthijs de Ligt – 6/10
The Dutch defender was much more lively and made no errors.
Victor Lindelof – 5/10
The Swedish international made his first appearance of the season. He provided defensive security but failed to support the attack.
The only United player who deserved to get a booking for a reckless foul.
Antony – 5/10
He made a bursting run and tried to beat Martinez with his trademark curling shot. He had a chance to square a cross for Fernandes but let his team down with his final pass.
Joshua Zirkzee – 4/10
His poor play ended two positive United attacks.
Casemiro – N/A
Too late to rate.
