Manchester United consider letting go of Alex Telles to secure Marcelo Brozovic

According to Inter Live (h/t Teamtalk), Manchester United may decide to part ways with summer signing Alex Telles in exchange for Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic.

The Brazilian left-back joined United from Porto on deadline day last summer. He has enjoyed a mixed spell of results so far at Old Trafford.

A spate of injuries coupled with Luke Shaw’s resurgence has seen the 28-year-old limited to just 16 appearances all season. While he is yet to score, he has had three assists to his name. (h/t Transfermarkt)

While the player’s crossing ability and guile on set-pieces give him an edge, he is clearly behind Shaw in the United pecking order. While he may not have taken over the reins as a first-choice player, his arrival did prompt Shaw to raise his game exponentially.

Telles is a player Inter are familiar with, having loaned him from Galatasaray for the 2015/16 season. He made 22 appearances that season, making a solitary assist. Hardly a spell that raises hopes.

The Brazilian is today a better player and can be considered one of the most dynamic left-backs in the business. Inter are in the market for a new left-back and could find just what they are looking for in their former star.

A straight swap?

As per the report, United could land Brozovic in return for Telles. The 28-year-old is one of Inter’s best players and is out of contract in 2022. The Nerazzurri could look to sell him in the summer if fresh terms aren’t signed.

Valued at a minimum of €30m, Brozovic has a higher value than Telles, who is €10m lesser. A direct swap would suit United financially. (h/t Teamtalk)

Whether the deal will gain traction in the coming months or not remains to be seen.
