According to The Mirror, Manchester United outcast, Andreas Pereira is experiencing a new lease of life at Brazilian side Flamengo.
The midfielder joined the Brazilian outfit on a season-long loan earlier this summer. Having fallen out of favour at United, it is fair to say that his future at the club could be done.
Pereira has so far made 75 appearances for United, predominantly as an attacking midfielder. Curiously enough he also featured as a defensive midfielder thrice. It appears to be something that has been given a lot more attention at Flamengo.

Flamengo manager Renato Portaluppi’s decision to deploy Pereira in a defensive role has worked wonders. He has praised the Brazilian’s versatility and admits the position change is something they have discussed in the past.
“He’s versatile, he’s a player I talked to even before I arrived at Flamengo.”
Portaluppi goes on to admit that Pereira has already accepted his acquiescence to donning the defensive hat. There does not appear to be any plans to return him to his traditional position yet.
‘He told me that he likes to play as a second defensive midfielder. So, this is where I’ve been putting him, in this position he’s been helping us, he’s been playing well.”

Pereira’s loan spell last season was rather underwhelming. He has however gone on to enjoy better fortune at Flamengo. The Brazilian side’s manager has already given a positive verdict on the signing.
“It was a great signing for Flamengo.”
Pereira, for his part, is keen to return to the international fold with Brazil. With the World Cup just a year away, Flamengo could give him just the right platform to showcase his talents. Maybe just not in a position United fans are accustomed to watching him play.
