Manchester United have had a dismal Premier League campaign, picking up just 29 points after 25 games.

Chelsea have fared better with 43 points, but they have registered just nine points from the last nine outings.

Jadon Sancho had a good start to his Blues career after his move from Old Trafford on an initial loan, but his form has nosedived.

Former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has slammed his performances.

He said on his podcast: “Jadon Sancho – he’s come on, he’s deceived us with a couple of games.

“We thought, we are getting this Jadon Sancho from Dortmund. He’s gone. I don’t know what’s happened to Jadon. He’s disappeared, off the grid.

“He takes the ball, he doesn’t go past people any more, he doesn’t create chances. He doesn’t help the team as much as he should be.”

United right to offload Sancho despite low fee

The Blues signed Sancho on loan with an obligation to buy if they finish 14th or higher in the league.

That looks certain to happen. The £25 million clause did not go well with some United fans, but the decision now appears justified.

Sancho has struggled to replicate his performances from his Dortmund days.

The attacker won just four out of nine duels in the recent league loss at Brighton & Hove Albion. He lost possession on 14 occasions and did not muster a single attempt on goal.

It was a similar theme in the FA Cup fourth-round defeat to the Seagulls. He appears out of depth in the Premier League.

The Blues will be obliged to sign him this summer. They could seek to recoup funds instantly. Dortmund could be interested due to Sancho’s previous success in the Bundesliga.
