The Old Trafford club have had an inconsistent start to the season under Solskjaer, with the pressure now mounting on the Norwegian.

What's happened at Manchester United this season?

Having signed Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, big things were expected of United this term.

However, the Red Devils have struggled for consistency in the opening weeks of the campaign, losing against the likes of Young Boys, Aston Villa and Leicester City. The team hit a new low earlier today when they slumped to a humiliating 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.

One of the managers who has got the better of Solskjaer this season is Brendan Rodgers, and following that defeat, Bridge has made a big claim about who United fans might prefer to have in the dugout out of the duo.

What has Bridge said?

As well as thinking that Antonio Conte could do better with United's current squad, Bridge has also questioned whether Rodgers would be an upgrade on Solskjaer.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I just think, what does a Conte do to Manchester United? And I use Rodgers as an example. Who would I rather have? Would I rather have the Leicester City manager or the Manchester United manager? You ask 100 people, surely 90 would probably go Rodgers.”

Would Rodgers do a better job at United than Solskjaer?

One factor that has to be considered here is that Rodgers previously managed Liverpool between 2012 and 2015, so there has to be some doubt as to whether United's fans would accept him.

Purely based on managerial achievements, though, Rodgers deserves to be regarded as a notch above Solskjaer at the moment. The 48-year-old won seven trophies in less than three years at Celtic, and has since returned to England to win the FA Cup and Community Shield with Leicester.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer is still waiting for his first piece of silverware at United, having been at the club for the best part of three years.

Rodgers has shown that he can get his teams over the finish line, winning major competitions, while despite making progress with Solskjaer in charge, United have consistently fallen short at the crucial moment over the last few seasons.
