A report by Spanish outlet Marca (h/t Express) claims that Kalidou Koulibaly could be headed to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The Senegalese international was linked with a move to Manchester City, Liverpool, and United in the past. However, he stayed at Stadio San Paolo in the summer, but could now be on the move.
The report states that Koulibaly wants a move to Old Trafford and that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a fan of the Napoli man, who is a player he has been eyeing for a while.
And United are linked as his possible destination in the summer. A move in this transfer window, however, seems highly unlikely.
Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis put a £100million price tag on the 29-year-old recently. He stated that the defender is not for sale unless one of the English clubs can fork out the quoted sum.
Koulibaly has just one and a half years left on his deal. His current Napoli contract expires in the summer of 2023. There is no hiding that Koulibaly is a solid defender.
He joined Napoli in the summer of 2014 and since then, he has been a regular fixture in their line-up. He played a vital role in their race for the title two years ago, despite the club falling short at the end.
A disappointing 2019/20 season followed where Gli Azzurri finished but they have picked up the pace since then. Koulibaly stars in the defence which has conceded the least goals in Serie A this season.
United do have Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Eric Bailly; but someone like Koulibaly could take the team to the next level and make them genuine silverware contenders.
