Man United have no new injury concerns after Erik ten Hag issued an update on his squad ahead of their meeting with Barnsley.
The Red Devils host the Tykes in the third round of the League Cup at Old Trafford on Tuesday, with kickoff set for 8pm.
Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are all available for selection after recovering from the minor knocks they sustained in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Southampton. “They are all available, they are good,” Ten Hag told his pre-match press conference.
The Dutchman did, however, confirm that Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw remain sidelined with injuries. “They are not ready,” he said.
Ten Hag did not give a timeframe on when Shaw can be expected to return. “We have a plan in our head when he can be ready, but you’re always dependent on how the progress will go.
“There are so many factors in the rehab plan, which can either accelerate [it] or slow [it] down.”
Asked if the Man United lineup could be rotated, the 54-year-old said: “Absolutely, very important and I hope I have headaches because last year I also had headaches but there were no players available.
“I have many players available and we can make a selection from game to game, definitely we have to rotate because we have to cover so many games. It’s not only about the starting XI. A nice headache.”
It could be an opportunity for Antony, who has made just one brief appearance off the bench so far this season, to start a game. On whether or not the Brazilian would play against Barnsley, Ten Hag said: “We have training every day and the players have to earn the right [to play]. When the attitude is good and they show the performance in training then they will play.”
