Manchester United make Christian Eriksen offer ahead of a possible loan move

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Express), transfer expert Ian McGarry stated that Manchester United have tabled an offer for Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Tottenham Hotspur were recently linked with re-signing the Danish midfielder. However, United’s name has now come up as a possible destination for Eriksen.

The Serie A side signed Eriksen from Tottenham in January 2020. However, things did not go as expected and the midfielder has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs as he seeks a transfer away from Italy.

McGarry states that United want to sign the midfielder on loan as long as Inter pay most of the wages. Out of his remaining £3.5million salary this year, United have offered to pay £1.3million.

“The deal is far from being done, mostly because Manchester United have not offered to pay a sufficient part of his wages.”

A stalemate

The transfer expert also stated that Solskjaer is ‘keen’ on the idea of signing the 28-year-old.

“Solskjaer is keen on the idea. He is looking for a central midfielder to assist in United’s challenge for the Premier League title.”

Eriksen has a lot of experience in the Premier League with Tottenham. As of now, the deal is only for a loan move with no option to buy.

Even in such a scenario, United could stand to benefit from the quality and depth that the former Ajax star would bring to midfield. He is, of course, not in the best form this season as he has no goals and assists so far.

But a move to the league where he spent most of his senior career might rejuvenate him. Moreover, United know they would need quality in the team as well as on the bench if they want their first title since 2013.
