Manchester United believe Solskjaer new deal will be key to signing Erling Haaland

According to Daily Star, Manchester United are of the belief that the new deal for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is key to signing Erling Haaland. The Norwegian manager was handed a new deal recently, which showed United’s faith in him. United feel that with Solskjaer’s future sorted, it will help them attract Dortmund sensation Haaland.

Erling Haaland is a name that has done the rounds for United given the club tried to sign him from RB Salzburg in January 2020. He decided to join Borussia Dortmund in the end. The 21-year old has been ridiculously prolific since joining the German club.

Interest has only grown since, as Chelsea have been after the Norwegian hitman. However, both sides are locked at an impasse and the deal could possibly move to next season. United though have a small trick up their sleeve. Solskjaer has special ties with the player as the pair had worked together at Molde.

Now with a new contract for Solskjaer and the signing of Sancho, United are planning to go after Haaland next season. That is when a £65m buy-out clause comes into effect, which will likely result in a host of clubs going after him. The idea is that Solskajer’s sorted future and relationship with Haaland will hand United the advantage.

There’s not a lot left to say about Haaland that hasn’t already been spoken. The striker has ridiculous numbers for Dortmund and is clearly a superstar in the making. United will need the Solskjaer factor to work in their favour if they want him at the club ahead of their rivals.
