Manchester United are ‘hopeful’ that David de Gea will sign a new contract at the club despite rumours that Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are interested in the goalkeeper.
De Gea has just 12 months left on his deal at Old Trafford but is in an exceptionally strong negotiating position with United desperate for the Spain international to stay.
The Guardian say that De Gea’s representatives have been in discussions with Ed Woodward and have asked for the number one to move level with Paul Pogba on €300,000 per week.
Although the two parties are believed to be ‘some distance’ from an agreement there is hope from United that De Gea will pen a new extension in the coming months.
Both PSG and Real Madrid are tracking the situation but United are aware just how badly it would look to lose their best player on a free in a year’s time.
