Man United have a 90% chance to sign former Leverkusen midfielder | OneFootball

As per Bild’s Christian Falk, Manchester United have a 90% chance to sign Hakan Calhanoglu.

Falk told the Stretford Paddock Podcast that the Red Devils are ‘very, very likely’ to sign the former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder.

Calhanoglu arrived at San Siro in 2017 and has been one of the best players in the club. In 142 appearances, Calhanoglu was directly involved in 67 goals [all stats from Transfermarkt].

The Turkish midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and United could sign begin the negotiations with him in January. The 26-year-old midfielder has already rejected interest from Italian side Juventus.

In 13 appearances so far, Calhanoglu has scored four goals and grabbed four assists for AC Milan this season.

Our take

I’d take Calhanolgu for free in a breath of air. Both Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata’s contracts are set to expire next summer.

Calhanoglu is an obvious upgrade from the current options and will provide better backup option to Bruno Fernandes. United are actively playing four competitions per season. They need depth and Calhonglu could play an important role.
