Onana will have been happy with his afternoon’s work, completing 90 minutes at Murrayfield and making a few smart stops to keep the Scots at bay.

The Cameroonian stopper also made a young fan’s day after the full-time whistle.

As reported by the Sun, Onana was approached by a ball girl at end of the game and gifted her his match-worn gloves in return.

The heart-warming gesture left the youngster delighted as she left the pitch with a match ball as well as Onana’s gloves.

The former Ajax shot stopper will be hoping for a less dramatic personal season this time around having suffered a turbulent campaign last year.

The 28-year-old took some time to settle into life in Manchester but did show signs of getting back to his best as the season wore on.

Onana spoke of his excitement for the upcoming campaign after the Rangers win, with the stopper confident that “nice things are coming” for United.

“It’s going to be difficult but we are well prepared, we are preparing well this season and it’s going to be really nice,” Onana predicted.

The goalkeeper continued by revealing, “It’s very exciting, not only for the coming games in pre-season but for the rest of this season.”

Onana will be part of the squad that travels to the United States for the 2024 Tour which starts this coming weekend with a game against Arsenal, in Los Angeles.
