Manchester United fans have made their thoughts clear on where they expect Ruben Amorim’s team to finish this season.
The Red Devils had a terrible season last year as Erik ten Hag was sacked in October and Ruben Amorim had to take charge at the end of November.
United found points and goals hard to come by and finished the season in 15th place.
The club have had a productive summer bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko and despite losing, impressed versus Arsenal on opening day.
Ahead of the new season, The Peoples Person created a poll on where readers think the team will finish this season in the Premier League and there seems to be significant optimism in the fanbase.
42% of fans voted that United would finish in a top four spot, which would be a highly impressive achievement.
It would of course also secure a route back into Champions League football, which everybody at the club is hungry for.
It would require Ruben Amorim’s side to improve immensely on last season and show great consistency to likely finish ahead of one of Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal or Chelsea.
27% of readers believe that United will finish somewhere in the European places so that could also mean Europa League or Conference League places.
This is perhaps a more conservative aim but also certainly an easier task with the likes of Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest all being distracted with European football on smaller squads.
19% of fans are incredibly optimistic about the new season and voted that the Red Devils would finish the campaign as champions.
This would be a first title since 2013 and would mark one of the most impressive turnarounds in English football history.
United’s board will hope Ruben Amorim can lead his side side to a title in the future but not many will be expecting it this season.
All in all, 88% of fans polled believe United will return to Europe this season, which can only be regarded as a success after last season.
Nonetheless, there is a small minority who believe this is beyond the current group.
10% of readers feel that a top half finish is on the agenda while just over 1% feel a repeat of last year is on the cards with a bottom half position in the table come May.
Less than 1% feel that United are destined to be relegated but it is amazing that some fans even feel this is a possibility considering their storied Premier League history and quality in the squad.
