Manchester United battle Tottenham Hotspur for Aberdeen wonderkid Calvin Ramsay

According to The Mirror (h/t ESPN), Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will face off against each other for the signature of Aberdeen wonderkid Calvin Ramsay. He has enjoyed several splendid performances in the Scottish Premiership this season, which has attracted attention from the Premier League bigwigs.

Man United recently sent scouts to evaluate the profile of the talented 18-year-old as they try to land him ahead of their competitors. The Red Devil scouts were present when he featured against Rangers in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Pittodrie. They may need to take a quick move should the teenager continue to perform as he has done so far.

Leicester City, Southampton and Leeds United are also keeping tabs on the situation, adding to the list of teams in the fray for the youngster. Given what we have seen of him so far, Ramsay has what it takes to become a Premier League regular in the future.

Ramsay to Man Utd or Spurs?

The Scotland U21 international has made 20 appearances this season and has made eight assists across all competitions. He has shown excellent potential so far and can rise to even greater levels should he move to the right club in the future.

Primarily a right-back, the Scottish teenager is versatile enough to play as a right-sided midfielder when needed. Moreover, his profile is suited to modern football as he excels in both attack and defence We could use someone like him in our team, considering the absence of a dynamic fullback on the right side of the defence.

The Scottish defender is well known for his excellent technical qualities and is also a solid defender to boot. A courageous player, he possesses excellent defensive nous and is not afraid to get stuck in when needed.

Diogo Dalot has great attacking attributes but his defensive skills are questionable. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, meanwhile, is just the opposite. Ramsay might need some time to get up to speed with the football in the Premier League. However, he could emerge as a shrewd move if he goes on to fulfil his potential.

The Aberdeen prodigy would be a great suit for us but the Manchester club would need to be wary of the other interested parties. Ralf Rangnick has done wonders at the clubs he has previously worked at in terms of identifying great talents for the future. Since he is set to take over a consultancy role next season, Ramsay could be the first of many to join the Red Devils youth revolution.
