Manchester United enquire about Watford star Ismaila Sarr

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United have enquired about Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.

While Jadon Sancho remains the club’s top priority, United have been unable to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund.

This has now forced them to look elsewhere, with Sarr a potential alternative. Given that the domestic window runs until October 16, United do have enough time to complete a deal.

According to the report, Watford are preparing for approaches for Sarr. They will however only consider permanent deals for the £40million-rated Senegalese.

Watford’s insistence on a permanent deal puts United in a sticky situation. This is because not landing Sancho this summer does not rule us out of making a move for him in the future.

Keeping that in mind, a loan deal for an alternative player would make more sense. However, given Watford’s reluctance, United will need to make a significant investment to bring in Sarr.

Having joined the Hornets only last summer, Sarr is far from a finished product. The 22-year-old has shown plenty of promise to suggest that he could become a leading winger in the years to come.

Predominantly a right-winger, Sarr can play anywhere across the frontline. The winger was also monitored by arch-rivals Liverpool. But following their signing of Diogo Jota, the road is clear for us to make our move.

Sarr’s contract at Vicarage Road runs until 2024. According to the Daily Mail, a clause in his contract allows Sarr the option to leave Watford as they are relegated.

Whether United will solidify their interest remains to be seen.

Sarr is keen to follow in the path of Liverpool star Sadio Mane. The Merseyside star is one of the best wingers in world football.

United missed out on signing him while he was at Southampton. Hopefully, history will not repeat itself with Sarr.
