Leeds United are unlikely to buy £25m-rated Watford forward Ismaila Sarr this summer, according to LeedsLive.

Yesterday reports in France claimed that Leeds are close to reaching an agreement with the Championship club over a deal for the 24-year-old.

Contract negotiations between Sarr and the Whites are said to be progressing as well though it is believed the move would hinge on a player leaving Elland Road.

However, LeedsLive has reported this morning that the Senegal international is unlikely to be a player that the Yorkshire club buy this summer.

The update is a boost for Manchester United, who have also been linked with offering the Watford forward a route back to the Premier League in the current window as they scramble to add more quality to Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Football League World revealed earlier this week that the Hornets want around £25 million for Sarr, who has two years left on his current deal.

The Verdict

There appear to be slightly contrasting reports concerning Leeds’ pursuit of Sarr, with local outlet LeedsLive now suggesting the Whites are unlikely to buy him this summer.

Whether that means a loan deal could happen or that the Whites are just lining Sarr up as a contingency option should a player depart remains to be seen but it seems a move is not as likely as reports in France have suggested.

It is a boost for Man United, who look to now have less competition should they make a move for Sarr before the window closes.

You feel there will likely be plenty more twists and turns in the saga before the window closes.
