Manchester United have been the victims of a cyber attack by hackers who threaten leak of sensitive data

A report by Daily Mail (h/t Daily Star) claims that Manchester United are being held to ransom for millions by hackers just weeks after being attacked by the cybercriminals.

United have been attacked by a sophisticated hacking method and have sought the help of cybersecurity experts to deal with the threat. However, it is still being reported by the Daily Mail that the cybercriminals have United in their grip and are asking for millions in ransom. (h/t Daily Star)

The problem is worsened by the fact that their system has been hacked by ransomware. United face the risk of having sensitive data leaked if they refuse to pay up the millions being asked for as ransom.

Manchester United released an official statement regarding the incident and assured fans that their data has not been compromised and the information critical to matchdays is secure.

Manchester United have also sought the help of the National Cyber Security Centre, who confirmed that they are helping the Manchester club during this cybersecurity crisis by releasing a statement.
