Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly ‘monitoring’ the situation of Derby County youngster Kaide Gordon.

Gordon, 16, who primarily operates as an attacking midfielder but can also fill-in out wide is highly-rated among youth coaches and believed to be a transfer target for both United and Liverpool.

After already making his Championship debut at the end of last year, Gordon looks set to become the latest young name in England’s second-tier to earn himself a big move.

The young English midfielder is rumoured to be available for just £2m with Derby County expected to accept any offers within that region in an attempt to alleviate financial worries.

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, both United and Liverpool are ‘monitoring’ the youngster’s situation and could make a move before the January transfer window slams shut.

The talented midfielder who one scout reportedly described as “the best 16-year-old in England right now” has already seen offers of around £1m turned down.

Newly confirmed Derby County manager Wayne Rooney was also not shy in his praise for the 16-year-old starlet, who, as quoted by Sky Sports, recently said: “I brought Kaide up with the first-team initially to train with us for a week to see how he reacted to it, and he was one of the best trainers.

“I kept him with us for a couple of weeks and he’s been training at the same level – if not to a better level – than a lot of the other [first-team] players.”

Should a successful move be agreed, Derby County are expected to demand a sell-on clause which will ensure the Rams profit further down the line.
