Premier League teams Manchester United and Chelsea have expressed their interest in signing Barcelona outcast Ousmane Dembele either during the ongoing window or in the summer, reports Spanish media outlet Fichajes.

The two English teams are looking to bolster their attacking ranks and have identified Dembele as an easy option to approach. After what panned during the past couple of days, however, has forced the teams to wait until the summer as the winger has decided to see out his contract until June.

United have been in contact with Dembele since his Borussia Dortmund days and even approached his entourages when he moved from Dortmund to Barcelona. It is said that the club is, in fact, interested in bringing him to Old Trafford this month but are not willing to shell out any transfer fee.

United’s interest in Ousmane Dembele comes after his national teammate, Anthony Martial, expressed his desire to leave the record Premier League champions. The former Monaco striker is frustrated with the lack of playing time, and judging by the looks of things, United have no problem in parting ways either.

As for Chelsea, the possibility of Timo Werner leaving in the summer is becoming viable. With the German failing to live up to his potential, it is believed that Barcelona have been offered a chance to sign the former Leipzig frontman.

While Dembele’s departure is inevitable, it seems like the suitors will have to until the summer after Barcelona were warned by the Professional Footballers Association (AFE) over a potential illegal treatment of the player.

According to ESPN, Barcelona’s ultimatum of warning the 24-year-old to leave before the current window has resulted in a warning from AFE, who has advised the Catalan club that they could be breaking the law by outcasting Dembele from their system.

The relationship between the player and the club has hit rock bottom, but as it seems, nothing can be until June 30, 2022.
