Sir Jim Ratcliffe showed his pace on Sunday by not only participating in the London Marathon in the morning but also racing against time to witness Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley in the afternoon.

Man United’s new co-owner is showing the same intent when it comes to reshaping the club’s football structure.

Earlier in the week, the Red Devils formally found an agreement with Southampton to appoint Jason Wilcox as their technical director with immediate effect.

The former Manchester City head of academy was present at Wembley this afternoon, finding a seat alongside former United CEO David Gill.

Having already hired Omar Berrada to fill the position of CEO at Old Trafford, Ratcliffe is in no mood to stop just at Wilcox.

According to The Sun, United are “speeding up” the arrival of Sam Williams.

The highly rated scout followed Kieran McKenna to the Championship side in 2022 after working for nearly five years at United in different roles, including first-team recruitment analyst.

He agreed to return to Manchester as United’s “emerging talent chief” early this year and was accordingly placed on six months’ gardening leave.

Now it is being claimed that United have found an agreement with Ipswich for their head of recruitment to head to Old Trafford in June.

In his new role, he will report to head of academy recruitment, Luke Fedorenko.

United are “aiming to build a ‘best-in-class’ academy recruitment team”. Considering Wilcox’s impressive role in transforming City’s youth setup, there is no doubt he will also play a big role in helping Williams strengthen United’s youth sides.

Ratcliffe’s biggest challenge in his pursuit to upgrade United’s recruitment team has been finding an agreement with Newcastle United for Dan Ashworth.

The Mancunian giants want to make Ashworth their sporting director before the start of the summer transfer window, but the Magpies have placed him on gardening leave, demanding as much as £20m to sanction his exit with immediate effect.
