According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United wonderkid Mason Greenwood is the favourite to win this year’s PFA Young Player of the Year award.
The 19-year-old has started the season well, scoring thrice in the first three Premier League games. His strike salvaged a point for Unite at St Mary’s while securing a win at the Molineux.
Greenwood has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season. That being said, it came as a surprise that he was not named in the England squad for the 2022 World cup qualifiers.

Despite the setback, the player continues to impress on the pitch and could now land himself the coveted award. It would be a fitting reward for a player who has looked the real deal since the turn of the year.
One of the best young players to come out of the United academy in recent years, Greenwood has a bright future ahead of him. He has already made 108 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 32 goals and assisting 10 more.
His strike against Wolves made him the fourth-youngest player to reach 20 Premier League goals. A tally bettered only by Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Wayne Rooney. Elite company to say the least.
The arrival of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo could eat into Greenwood’s time on the field. However, given his performances so far, the teenager is making himself a strong case.
Greenwood is ahead of the likes of Phil Foden in the race to win the PFA gong. While the City ace is a very talented payer who won the Premier League, Greenwood has performed better in an individual capacity. The 19-year-old will be a worthy winner of the award.
