The Red Devils bounced back through an excellent finish from Harry Maguire.

However, parity lasted only eight minutes as the Blades took advantage of Man United’s weakness in defending cut-backs.

Goals from the penalty spot and a stunning long-range strike from Fernandes put United ahead.

Rasmus Hojlund scored the fourth goal to secure the points. Let’s get into the player ratings.

Player Ratings

Andre Onana – 4/10

The goalkeeper played a sloppy pass to Diogo Dalot that ultimately turned out to be an assist to Jayden Bogle.

Diogo Dalot – 6/10

Dalot made a great run behind the Blades’ back-line but failed to keep his composure against the goalkeeper. He was guilty of losing the ball before their second goal.

Harry Maguire – 8/10

The England international continues to be one of the few United players in good form. He brought his side back into the game with a fantastic glancing header before half-time.

Casemiro – 7/10

A fine performance from the midfielder, playing out of position as a centre-back.

His fine ball distribution showed why it is pivotal for defenders to be good with the ball at their feet.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6/10

A much more reasonable shift from the former Crystal Palace man compared to his last outing.

Christian Eriksen – 5/10

He should have stopped the cut-back through which the visitors scored their second goal.

Kobbie Mainoo – 7/10

The 18-year-old played in a more advanced position with Eriksen filling in as a number six. He produced some nice link-up play and earned an assist for Fernandes’ magical goal.

Bruno Fernandes – 9/10

A captain’s performance from Fernandes.

He emphatically scored from the spot to bring United level for the second time. Fernandes pulled strings from the midfield and scored a spectacular long-range strike to put his team ahead.

His night was not done as he set up the goal for Hojlund.

Alejandro Garnacho – 7/10

The youngster squandered two big chances which could have calmed some early nerves for the hosts. He showed great defensive work rate whenever called upon.

Antony – 5/10

The Brazilian was heavily involved in the first half but didn’t show any end product. Ten Hag was right to substitute him before the hour mark.

Rasmus Hojlund – 6/10

Hojlund continued to struggle up front, but the late goal will have boosted his confidence.
