The name of Brazilian international Rodrygo has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital across the week to date.

As much comes after the 23-year-old, through a series of interviews, appeared to hint that he was taking into consideration a departure from the Santiago Bernabéu.

Speaking to DAZN, as cited by The Athletic, for one, Rodrygo had the following to say when drawn on his future:

“Anything can happen. I have a contract here, but the years I’ve been here have been a pleasure for me.”

The attacker’s entourage have since moved to firmly shut down any and all speculation surrounding their client’s situation in Madrid, adamant that his words were misconstrued.

And yet, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Rodrygo’s potential addition has nevertheless made its way onto the agenda of one of Europe’s leading clubs.

As per a report from Real insider José Félix Díaz of Marca, Manchester City are keeping more than a close eye on developments at the Santiago Bernabéu.

This comes with Pep Guardiola and co. keen admirers of Rodrygo’s talents, ‘waiting’ in the wings for any possible signal towards a parting of ways between the Brazilian and Los Blancos.

Real Madrid, for their part, have no intention of sanctioning a sale.

It remains to be seen, however, just how the arrivals of Kylian Mbappé and Endrick impact Rodrygo’s place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
