Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle is floating today after scoring in Hamburg SV's victory over SC Paderborn.

The on-loan midfielder scored his first goal in senior football in the German Second Division 2-1 win on Friday night. Doyle joined HSV on a straight season-long loan in August and has been gradually introduced to first team football by coach Tim Walter.

Walter, who has spoken highly of Doyle's form in training, gave the youngster his chance on Friday and was rewarded with a goalscoring performance. Afterwards, Doyle admits he was delighted by his contribution.

Doyle told the club's website: "We recently had a few games in which we didn't close the bag, so we're all the more happy that we made it today and that we were rewarded.

"I am personally extremely pleased that I was able to have a decisive influence in the last few minutes, as I did in Aue."

The young midfielder concedes he'd like to have played more by now, though hopes he has grabbed his chance with the goal and winning performance against Paderborn.

He continued: "Of course, I would like to play more, but that's the way it is in football: if you get the chance, then you have to be there, and luckily I managed to do that today after this great preparatory work by Kinso.

"This win is extremely important for us as a team!"

Doyle has so far made three appearances in the 2.Bundesliga, scoring once and producing one assist.
