Manchester City aren’t expected to go on a huge spending spree this summer, but the Premier League champions might have expected to have signed somebody by now.
Atlético Madrid midfielder Rodri seems almost certain to be heading to the Etihad Stadium in the coming weeks, and he is likely to be followed by Juventus right-back João Cancelo.
Meanwhile, rumours of an impending swoop for Leicester’s Harry Maguire have gone rather quiet in recent days.
However, it seems City could be just days away from completing their first acquisition of the summer, but it’s one that’s unlikely to set pulses racing in the blue half of Manchester, if the truth be told.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo report on Saturday that the Blues are close to sealing a deal for 35-year-old Eibar goalkeeper Asier Riesgo.
Riesgo has apparently been recommended to Pep Guardiola by assistant manager Mikel Arteta and will join as third choice goalkeeper before eventually moving into a coaching role at the club.
Eibar are reportedly already shopping for a replacement and Riesgo should officially be a City player by the middle of next week.
Exciting stuff or what?
