Manchester City will ‘consider’ a summer move for Jack Grealish as a potential replacement for Bayern Munich target Leroy Sane.
Grealish is expected to leave Aston Villa this summer regardless of whether the club secure Premier League survival, the midfielder having enjoyed a hugely impressive campaign with seven goals and six assists for Dean Smith’s struggling side so far this season.
Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move to sign the midfielder this summer, though the Telegraph are now reporting that rivals City could challenge for the 24-year-old’s signature.
Pep Guardiola is a self-confessed admirer of Grealish and has already lavished praise on the playmaker this season, labelling the Villa captain as an ‘exceptional player’ and amongst the best in the Premier League.
Grealish’s technical style and ability to play centrally or from the left-flank makes him an attractive proposition to the Etihad side, whilst his arrival would also boost the club’s home-grown quota ahead of next season.
Sane is expected to leave the club this summer after refusing to sign a new deal at City, the Germany international possessing just a year on his contract and a long-term target for Bundesliga champions Bayern.
Grealish’s arrival could help fill the void left by the 24-year-old’s return to German football, alongside David Silva’s confirmed departure after a decade at the Etihad, though Guardiola suggested last week that they weren’t looking for a direct replacement for the former Schalke winger.
