While Manchester City dominated the ball in the early exchanges, Brighton remained a threat on the break against a City defence that has been shaky as of late.

The visitors’ domination finally paid inside 20 minutes however after Kevin De Bruyne headed home the opener after a superb team move.

It went from good to great for City when a Phil Foden free-kick took a massive deflection before finding its way into the goal to double the City lead.

The clash was all but put to bed before the 35 minute mark when relentless City pressure resulted in a Brighton giveaway on the edge of their box, where Phil Foden was waiting to pounce and put the away side three ahead.

With a sizable lead in-tact, City slowed the game down to a crawl after the break, sitting on what they head to ensure Brighton could gather no momentum.

They did find their fourth however, as an industrious Kyle Walker run and challenge on the Brighton keeper allowed Julián Álvarez to tap home from close range.
