Manchester City supporter groups are satisfied with the apology offered by the club after their withdrawal from the Super League group.

City had received in the region of 250 complaints from fans via email and letters since they were announced as one of 12 breakaway clubs on Sunday night. The club are set for an already scheduled meeting with fan representatives next week, says the Daily Mail.

Kevin Parker, the general secretary of City's official supporters' club, praised chief Ferran Soriano's sentiments.

"I sent Ferran an email on Monday and reminded him that City must know it's not good for City or football," Parker said.

"I thought the personnel that we had on the playing side cannot be comfortable with. They've been selected for not only their great footballing ability, but their humanity and humility. They know football is not about them – it's about fans and the community.

"What happened was not the club we've known since 2008. There was something wrong. It didn't fit the ethos of the club we currently are. I asked for them to do the right thing and football will remember us for doing that."
