Sergio Agüero has sustained a training ground knee injury which is likely to keep him out of action for up to two weeks.

The striker confirmed the news via his official Twitter account on Sunday afternoon.

The Argentine will now miss Monday night’s Premier League trip to Stoke City but is likely to have recovered in time for City’s next match – away at Everton on 31 March.

Agüero has been in terrific scoring form this season and netted his 30th goal of the campaign in last month’s Carabao Cup final victory over Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola will be hoping to have him back for the Manchester derby on 7 April and in the meantime, Gabriel Jesus – who recently returned from a knee injury of his own – will deputise in his absence.
