Manchester City star and recent Ballon d’Or winner Rodri has this week moved to forward a message of support to Real Madrid defender Éder Militão.
This, of course, comes fresh off a difficult few days for the Brazilian international.
Afforded a starting berth in Real Madrid’s La Liga meeting with Osasuna on Saturday, Militão was forced into an early departure from proceedings, after going to ground in evident distress, clutching his knee.
An ensuing round of medical tests confirmed that the 26-year-old had suffered an ACL tear, his 2nd in the space of a little over a year.
Militão’s season, as a result, can be considered as good as over.
Messages of support have therefore since come flooding in for the defender, from fans, players and media personalities across the football landscape.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, such messages were added to by the current Ballon d’Or holder.
Speaking in an interview with COPE earlier today, Spanish international Rodri was drawn on Militão’s latest setback.
And the midfielder, currently sidelined with an ACL injury of his own, made use of the opportunity to wish Militão ‘all the best’ in his recovery:
“Militão’s ACL injury? I was watching the game. I felt very bad for him. He spent so many months recovering and now again… I wish him all the best, he’s a great guy. I hope he will be strong.”
