Manchester City have announced the signing of Brazilian international Kerolin Nicoli. The forward joins Gareth Taylor’s side on a three-and-a-half year deal from North Carolina Courage. The 25-year-old has made 45 senior appearances for Brazil so far in her international career.

The forward was named as the National Women’s Soccer League’s MVP in 2023, making her the first South American player to receive the honour.

Kerolin will take the No.14 shirt, most recently worn by Australian defender Alanna Kennedy. With star striker Bunny Shaw currently sidelined through injury, Kerolin’s signing is especially important for the Sky Blues.

Speaking on the move, the forward said: “I’m so excited to be here. I think there were a lot of reasons why I chose City and one of those was to play in the Champions League, I think the players [in the WSL] are really technical and the team is compact. I want to be better, to learn different things and to come here to be challenged. Also play against the defenders who will play in the next World Cup in Brazil in 2027.

“I’m really excited to be part of the team. I have so much confidence, but I know I need to keep working hard to be great here. There will be some differences between here and where I’ve played before, but I’m really excited.”

‘We are delighted to bring Kerolin to Manchester’

Manchester City Women Director of Football Therese Sjogran added: “Kerolin comes to Manchester City with a wealth of experience under her belt at just 25 – as a fully-fledged international, an Olympian, and MVP — with a real desire and hunger to take her game to the next level. Kerolin is creative, quick, and will add even more firepower to our forward line. We have a shared ambition to be the best not only in England but also in Europe. We are delighted to have been able to bring her to Manchester.”
