Manchester City are set to sign a €45 million annual deal with Puma effectively ending Nike’s sponsorship for next season.
The Sun has reported that since Puma’s relation with Arsenal is about to expire, they will aim to sign up with Pep Guardiola’s side – the Gunners themselves are likely to switch to adidas – therefore making it a priority for Puma to come to an agreement with another high profile club.
The German sports brand offer will double the amount of Nike’s current deal with the Premier League frontrunner, who are on the verge of winning it for a third time in the last six years.
“There is more certainty about the place that everything is on the right track when it comes to Puma,” a source reportedly told the paper. “It is getting closer and closer.
“City still have a strong relationship with Nike so the fans must be patient. There’s work to be done.”
Manchester City wore Umbro through the 2011-12 season and then switched to Nike – who bought Umbro at the time – signing a six year deal.
