The Premier League champions, Manchester City have announced their pre-season tour dates.
After a dramatic end to their season, City will embark on their first full pre-season, something they haven’t been able to do since 2019.
The Covid-19 pandemic halted football in early 2020, and further travel restrictions prevented the Blue half of Manchester from travelling to all corners of the globe in preparation for the season.
Pep Guardiola will undoubtedly want a full squad available for pre-season to see his team recover from their European disappointment.
However, with another transfer window set to open, City will also be adding to their ranks, with Norwegian striker Erling Haaland already on his way. GiveMeSport has you covered, here’s everything you need to know.
City will hope to get much done in the pre-season as they look to reignite yet another title charge. Pep’s team is known for travelling to countries where their fan base has increased since their Saudi Takeover.
The Citizens have not had a pre-season outside the UK since travelled to China, Hong Kong and Japan since they were featured in the Premier League Asia Trophy in China.
City have announced only two pre-season matches so far, with Pep taking his squad to the United States.City will face Mexican side Club America in Houston and German giants Bayern Munich at Lambeau Field in Green Bay once they arrive in America.
Another fixture they have before the 2022/23 Premier League Season is the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. They participate in this as they won the Premier League.
Tickets for the Club América match are already on sale on the club’s official website, but season ticket holders, Cityzens Members, and Official Supporters Clubs members will be emailed exclusive pre-sale links to purchase tickets before they go on general sale.
This will also be Manchester City’s return to NRG Stadium after their first overseas Manchester derby against Manchester United on July 20, 2017.
Premier League action is expected to begin the weekend of August 6, 2022.
City’s opener and major fixture dates with rivals Manchester United are still to be decided as the top-flight fixture list will not be revealed until 9 am BST on Thursday, June 16.
City, as Premier League champions, will also play against Liverpool in the annual Community Shield opener on July 30.
