City boss does not need more absences during dire run of form
The previously all-conquering Premier League champions are on a miserable run of form, winning only one of their last 10 games and losing seven of those in the process.
While injuries may not be the only problem facing City, they surely cannot have helped.
The loss of key midfielder and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri has had a profound impact on the champions, while Guardiola has been without key defenders throughout the campaign thus far.
The Spaniard has admitted he will have to great creative in terms of team selection ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby as a result.
What Guardiola does not need are more absences as he looks to steady the ship, particularly in defence.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the Man City players at risk of suspension.
Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji are both on three yellow cards for the season

Any player shown five yellow cards across the season before the slate is wiped clean in January will serve a one-match suspension.
Unhelpfully for Guardiola, several City stars are close to that mark. Bernardo Silva is on four ahead of the frantic festive fixture schedule, while defenders Manuel Akanji (injured for Sunday) and Ruben Dias are on three.
Rico Lewis will miss Sunday’s clash against Manchester United following the red card he was shown at Crystal Palace for two bookable offences.
