Rodri is far from the most liked person in Madrid at present, especially after he took the Ballon d’Or away from Vinicius Jr at the nth minute.

Despite being a Spanish international and bringing the accolade back home, Madrid are far from happy with him winning the title over Vinicius. Yet, one cannot fully say it was undeserved either after the season he had.

With Los Blancos direly lacking a dominant midfield profile who can dictate play and break lines, Rodri has been linked with a move to the club in recent times. The Ballon d’Or saga may thus be a thing of the past soon.

Rodri talks Real Madrid

Speaking to the media in an interview, the Manchester City star was asked if he would be open to a move to Real Madrid in the future and his response was encouraging.

“If Real Madrid call me? Obviously, when Real Madrid, the best and most successful club in history calls you, it’s an honour. You always have to pay attention,” he said via El Larguero.

After all, a move back to Spain would sit well for the midfielder and does not quite get bigger than Real Madrid.

Rodri is currently out injured for the season with an ACL injury and a potential transfer in the summer will largely depend on how he comes back from the setback.

The 28-year-old’s current deal with Pep Guardiola’s side runs until the summer of 2027 and the Premier League giants will not make it easy for any club to secure his signing. As the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, his signing will come at a premium.
