Man City: Liverpool fan's video goes viral after no penalty against Rodri vs Everton | OneFootball

There was major controversy as Manchester City narrowly defeated Everton on Saturday evening.

Despite being on opposite ends of the Premier League table, Man City struggled to break the Toffees down at Goodison Park.

They finally took the lead in the 72nd minute when Phil Foden capitalised on a Michael Keane mistake.

Three minutes later, City benefitted from a huge refereeing decision.

The ball appeared to strike Rodri’s arm inside his own box. The referee gave nothing at the time but it looked all for the world that VAR would spot the handball.

However, VAR decided against giving the penalty, a decision which sparked outrage on social media.

City went on to win the game 1-0 and pick up a crucial three points. There is no guarantee that Everton would have scored the penalty and gone on to secure a draw if it had been given, but there were still many that complained about the decision.

It’s not the first time a refereeing decision has gone City’s way this season.

City have certainly had some debatable decisions go their way this season, it must be said.

The win could prove pivotal come the end of the campaign. City managed to extend their lead at the top to six points, although they do have a game in hand over Liverpool.

The two sides will play each other on April 10 at the Etihad Stadium. That game, as well as the race for the title, is going to be fascinating viewing.
